Dr. Bianca D’Allesandro

Dr. Bianca D’Allesandro or Dr. D as she is known has been an educator and administrator in Oakland for past 10 years. She joined the Skyline High School community after being the principal of Bret Harte Middle School. Prior to Bret Harte, Dr. D was the founding Head of High School at Madison Park Academy - an OUSD expanding school - and was instrumental in creating this new school from the ground up. She worked closely with families, the principal, district officials, and other community partners to create an innovative program including Advanced Placement coursework for every student, an internship model for upperclassmen, and a K-12 continuity framework that supports graduation success among at-risk youth. She is proud to say that in their first year, Madison Park Academy received the highest 9th grade SRI scores, and were also celebrated for their work with AAMA (African American Male Achievement). In addition to her roles at Bret Harte and Madison Park, Dr. D was the Dean of Students at Oakland School for the Arts, a California Distinguished School.

Dr. D’s career demonstrates her focus on bridging the personal experience of students and families with the building of structures to support their success. She believes in cultivating creative solutions for what education can be and, in actively building equity into our structures and school culture.

Dr. D graduated from Bard College with a B.A. in Literature  and a minor in Photography. She continued her studies at Bard College, earning her teaching credential and M.A. in Education and earned her PhD in Educational Leadership from Mills College.
