Spring 2018 Dream, Resist, Educate Event Series
In Spring 2018, we launched the Dream, Resist, Educate: Sanctuary Spring Series to gather community to learn, heal and grow solidarity amongst specific groups impacted by immigration policy and our network of unafraid educators.
January: Daze of Justice film screening and discussion, deportation and history of Southeast Asian Refugees
February:TPS El Salvador panel discussion, immigration in historical context and current impact of ending Temporary Protected Status visas.
April: Yemen from Global to Local. Yemeni students, teachers and scholars will discuss the history of the Yemeni community in Oakland, the current situation in Yemen and how it all intersects in OUSD.
May: Chinese Exclusion Act documentary and dialogue on the modern-day context as well as an educator workshop with lesson plans and tools for engaging students and community on race, immigration, exclusion and inclusion using excerpts from the film.
Support future sanctuary events: your donation comes with a Sanctuary T-Shirt or Sweatshirt and helps us build our movement of unafraid educators!
