OUSD Wins Grant of $1.8M to Help Newcomer Students

Oakland, CA - The OUSD Office of English Language Learner and Multilingual Achievement is proud to announce that after a long campaigning process, it has secured a major grant from the State of California to provide additional services for refugees and other eligible school-age students served by the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement. The grant will total more than $1.8 million over three years.
Rudsdale Newcomer and Oakland SOL join the family!

In 2017-18, Oakland Unified School District expanded options for language learners with programs at two new locations: Oakland SOL, OUSD's first Dual Language program for middle school, and Rudsdale Newcomer which supports newcomer students in earning a high school diploma. These are exciting additions to the multilingual pathways we are building District-wide!
