Ms. Jacqueline Westermeyer - 3rd Grade
My name is Jacqueline (Jacque) Westermeyer. This will be my 4th year teaching 3rd grade! I have been involved in education for 16 years and in addition to being a classroom teacher, I have taught in many places and capacities including in rural Nepal and as a garden educator. I am passionate about helping students uncover their strengths and face challenge with a growth mindset. I am thrilled to be taking residence and teaching in Oakland. I look forward to meeting my colleagues, students, and families of Emerson Elementary.
Ms. Mia Boykin - STIP Sub Teacher
My name is Mia Boykin, and I just moved from Los Angeles where I was a 6th grade Reading and Writing Teacher for 2 years. I am so excited to be in Oakland, and more specifically, I am excited to join the staff at Emerson Elementary as the new STIP Substitute Teacher. I look forward to meeting all of our students and families within this community.
Ms. Haram Jameel (Roma) - Pre-K Verbal Behavior SDC
My name is Haram Jameel, but you may refer to me as Roma. I've lived in Oakland for eighteen years during which I've raised four boys into adulthood. I've been substituting in OUSD for the last four years. I am extremely excited and feel privileged to be part of the teaching community at Emerson. It is my strong belief that children are filled with potential and that they are the promise of tomorrow; therefore, it is imperative that the teacher taps into the children's potential so they can flourish and shine. I am looking forward to being on "TEAM EMERSON."
Ms. Antoinette Holland - Administrative Assistant
My name is Antionette Holland. I have worked for OUSD for over 20 years in various positions. I am excited to be joining the Emerson Community. I am looking forward to meeting our new families and reuniting with families, who I have known throughout my years with OUSD!
Ashley Ikeda - Therapist
Hello! My name is Ashley Ikeda and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#93897), with East Bay Agency for Children. I currently have 4 years of experience working with students and families and I enjoy working most with elementary grade students. I'm currently in the process of obtaining a Trauma certificate at JFK University and I hope to use what I've learned in my work with students! I'm excited and honored to be a part of the Emerson Elementary community because I can see that the staff is passionate and cares about their students and families but also I think Emerson has a unique and inclusive curriculum that is tailored to meet students where they are at. I'm excited to see what this year will bring and I just wanted to say "thank you" to everyone for being so warm and welcoming!
