Support OUSD Libraries!

  •

Your donations are the life blood of OUSD libraries, as currently all funding for libraries goes to staff. We have no book or programming budget.

Your donations assist us in creating equity throughout the District; we are greatful to be able to provide much needed resources and programs.

    Please donate to:

Philanthropic Ventures Foundation with “Juvenile Justice Literacy Fund” in the check memo line, and mail it to: Philanthropic Ventures Foundation, 1222 Preservation Park Way, Oakland, CA 94612-1201 To donate by credit card, select Juvenile Justice Literacy fund. Please view or print out How to Donate for more detailed information and clear steps.

2% of your donations are used by the Foundation for managing the fund, which is the lowest percentage in the Bay Area. This makes your dollars go further. The funding given to this foundation provides direct access for district library staff, with no steps other than an email request needed for access.

Donations have been used to fund :

Author visits! OUSD students have experienced visits from MK Asante, Carlos Andres Gómez, Kwame Alexander , JASON REYNOLDS!!!, Matt de la Pena, Loren Long, Nic Stone,  and many, many others.

Resources! From bookmarks to the latest and greatest books, purchased at a 40% discount, your donations have gone directly to delight, uplift and inspire Oakland Public school children to read and learn!

Library Programs! From California Young Reader Medal programs to Mock Newberys to NaNoMe writing and more, your donations have gone to public school children to have rich, fun and varied literary experiences.
