In 2016, Hoover leaders partnered with ED78 to redesign our school. As part of the redesign, Hoover teachers visited other schools.
Hoover had the unique opportunity to go through a redesign process by improving structures and creating K-5 alignment in instruction in order to build a better school for our students and our community. We were able to partner with the community in order to reimagine how the “Hoover Way” looks, feels, and lives each day.
Our design team was led by a group of dedicated teachers, staff and, most importantly, parents. The first year, or the proposal year, consisted of exploring different school sites and structures in order to get learn about what programs we would want to try and culminated in a proposal to the district. During the 2nd year, or design year, there were teacher-led pilots, ongoing school-site visits, and parent/community engagement workshops. Last year was our launch year and this school year we have implemented a new instructional design in all grades. So far, our changes have impacted teacher focus, student engagement and learning.
