Re: Principal Search
Co-Principal Team Selected to Lead Fremont
Greetings Fremont High School Community:
On behalf of the Fremont Principal Selection Committee and Supt. Antwan Wilson, I am pleased to announce the creation of a Co-Principal Leadership Team to lead Fremont High School.
Following a national search, the committee recommended Tom Skjervheim and Rosemary McAtee as Co-Principals. As educators, Mr. Skjervheim and Mrs. McAtee bring records of established success from many years of working with students and families in OUSD and Oakland.
Mr. Skjervheim, the Associate Director of Learning, Teaching and Pathway Development for ConnectEd, has worked around the country supporting schools to build out quality Linked Learning pathways. Mr. Skjervheim’s expertise and leadership will be invaluable in leading the Fremont High redesign plan.
Mrs. McAtee has deep roots in the community and over the last eight years has successfully been a teacher and principal in Oakland at Fred T. Korematsu Discovery Academy. Mrs. McAtee brings a deep level of commitment, knowledge, instructional leadership and expertise in reading supports for our highest needs students.
The Co-Principals will meet with teachers and staff within the next two weeks to start building relationships and understanding the unique opportunities that our Fremont community has to create a safe school climate and increase student achievement. More information will be provided in the coming weeks about how the Co-Principals will share responsibilities and get to know the staff.
Students and families can meet the Co-Principals during the next community engagement meeting on Tuesday, April 26, at 6 p.m. at Fremont High School.
In closing, I would like to thank the Principal Selection Committee for coming together in service of students. Your work, insight and thoughtfulness has created a leadership team that will be a great fit for the Fremont community.
Please feel free to contact me if there are questions or concerns.
