• Incident/Ejection Policy

It is our responsibility to see that the athletic program is a supplement to our instructional program by providing the opportunity for the maximum number of highly skilled students to engage in a competitive interscholastic program.  The athletes also are entitled to an opportunity to observe and learn proper and acceptable behavior in relation to officials, coaches, competitors, teammates, and spectators.

To emphasize the proper ideals of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and fair play, the following rules are in effect:

    • Any athlete or coach who is ejected from a game for a flagrant foul, dangerous or unsportsmanlike conduct will be suspended for the next game played.  This suspension applies to the next sport played and/or the next year.

    • Any athlete or coach who is ejected from a game a second time will be suspended for the next two games played.  These suspensions apply to the next sport played and/or the next year.

    • Any athlete or coach who is ejected from a game a third time will be suspended for the rest of the season.  In order to participate in any other OAL sport, he/she must appeal to the Policy Committee.

    • Any athlete who leaves the bench to participate in a fight between players will be suspended for the next two games played the first time.  This suspension applies to the next sport played and/or the next year.

    • Any athlete who leaves the bench to participate in a fight between players a second time will be suspended for the remainder of the season.  In order to participate in any other OAL sport, he/she must appeal to the Policy Committee.

    • A coach who removes his/her team from the court/field prior to the termination of a game by National Federation Rules or any playing rules adopted by the OAL/Oakland Section shall be suspended for the next game played.  A second violation of this provision shall result in suspension of a coach for the remainder of the season.  (9/2000)

    • Suspended athletes and coaches are prohibited from being in attendance in the athletic facility (e.g., Court, field, gym, etc.) in which the next suspended game(s) or contest are held. Violation of this rule (OAL114,F.1.a) may result in a game forfeiture of the suspended athlete(s) and/or coaches’ team and carry-over of the suspension to the next game or contest.
