STEP 4: Receive and Confirm Your Assignment!
Confirmation Deadline: March 30, 2017
Once the window for applications closes, the staff at the Welcome Center will be working hard to process all the applications prior to Lottery. Students are prioritized for space as follows:
- 1st: Siblings. Students that have a sibling at the first choice school, and are applying so that both siblings will be attending together at the same site for 2017-18, have the highest priority. We define siblings as students who share a parent/guardian and reside at the same address.
- 3rd: General Population. Families whose choice is outside of their neighborhood. If there are spaces for all applicants, then everyone may get their choice. However, if there are less spaces than applicants at a school and grade, a random lottery determines the placement.
We will notify families of their placement results starting the week of March 6. Families may appeal their decision, instructions for appealing will be available in the placement letter.
Once you receive your placement letter, whether you are appealing it or not, you should confirm your placement. Students whose families do not confirm by the Confirmation Deadline of March 30, may lose their seat at their assigned school. Confirmation details will be provided in the letter.
