Good Evening Westlake Warrior Eagle Scholars and Families.  This is your Principal, Ms. Taylor, with your weekly update for the week of March 26 - 30, 2023. This is the last  week of the marking period. Please be sure that you are checking Aeries to monitor your scholar’s progress. You can find the latest updates below.

On-Time Enrollment Offers: This information is for our current 8th Grade Families- You should have received a message via both email and text, asking to log in to your Enrollwise account at www.chooseousd.org. The deadline to accept these offers is this coming Tuesday, March 28 at 11:59 p.m. Be sure you accept or decline your offer by this deadline.

SELLS: Thank you to the families that attended our SELLS (Site English Language Learners) meeting this past Thursday night. We were able to establish our SELLS group. We are looking forward to their recommendations for EL Programming here at Westlake.

Summer Programming at Westlake: Applications are now open for our in-person 5-week summer program. Apply today! Aim High is a no-cost summer program for your middle school student. Aim High ignites middle school students with a love of learning and prepares them for success in high school and beyond. If you know of a current 5th - 8th grade student in the Bay Area and Tahoe Truckee interested in our summer program, visit aimhigh.org/summer-2023.

Southern California College Tour: Today 44 amazing scholars departed on a Southern California College Tour, March 26-30. We will be sharing photos from the trip upon our return. Congratulations to all scholars attending!

Latino Student Honor Roll: Congratulations to all Warrior Eagles that were honored at the 23rd Annual Latino Student Honor Roll will be held on Saturday, March 25. This districtwide event celebrated the academic achievements of the Latino student that had a 3.75 GPA and above for the first semester. Keep up the good work!

End of Marking Period/Spring Break: The end of the next marking period is Thursday, March 30. We will be on a minimum day schedule with a dismissal time of 1:37 PM. OUSD will be observing the Cesar Chavez Holiday and then on Spring Break beginning Friday, March 31- Friday, April 7. School will resume on Monday, April 10. Please plan accordingly.

Parent-Teacher Conferences: Thank you to the families that participated in Parent-Teacher Conferences last week. If you did not get a chance to speak with your scholar’s teachers, please reach out to them via email or ParentSquare for an update.

On-Time Enrollment Offers: This information is for our current 8th Grade Families- On Thursday, March 9 the Enrollment Office released on-time offers and/or waitlist statuses to families. You should have received a message via both email and text, asking to log in to your Enrollwise account at www.chooseousd.org. The deadline to accept these offers is Tuesday, March 28 at 11:59 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact our School Counselor, Ms. Nguyen. 

SELLS: We are asking our English Language Learner parents to join us for a meeting of the SELLS (Site English Language Learners Committee) on Wednesday, March 22 at 5:00 PM via Zoom. This is a subcommittee of the School Site Council. The link to join the meeting will be emailed to all families.

Southern California College Tour: Westlake will be taking 40 amazing scholars on a Southern California College Tour, March 26-30. A MANDATORY Parent Meeting for those scholars chosen to attend the tour will be held on Monday, March 20 at 6:00 PM in the Westlake Cafeteria. During this meeting we will go over the itinerary, provide transportation and lodging information and have parents sign all field trip forms. Congratulations to all scholars attending!

Latino Student Honor Roll: The 23rd Annual Latino Student Honor Roll will be held on Saturday, March 25. This is a districtwide event that celebrates the academic achievements of the Latino student population. This year’s celebration will honor those scholars that had a 3.75 GPA and above for the first semester. If you are one of the Latino scholars that will be honored, you will be notified by the Westlake Counseling Department this week. Congratulations to all Warrior Eagles that will be honored!

State Championship wins this weekend! Westlake is proud of you!

Parent-Teacher Conferences: We will be hosting our Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences this week, Tuesday, March 14 & Thursday, March 16. The conferences will be held virtually (online). Please click the link provided to sign-up. This is a time for you to connect with your scholar’s teachers to hear about their academic progress. All parents are encouraged to sign-up and participate. Thursday, March 16 will be an early dismissal at 1:37 PM. The schedule for the conferences is as follows:

During the conferences, there will be a breakout room for parents to review their scholar’s reading scores that were sent home with their report cards last week. A Zoom link will be shared via email to all families. Please plan accordingly.

On-Time Enrollment Offers: This information is for our current 8th Grade Families- On Thursday, March 9 the Enrollment Office released on-time offers and/or waitlist statuses to families that applied to a new school for next year during the on-time priority window--December 1 through February 10. You should have received a message via both email and text, asking to log in to your Enrollwise account at www.chooseousd.org. Once logged-in, you can review your offer and/or waitlist status, and accept or decline the offered schools for next year.  The deadline to accept these offers is Tuesday, March 28 at 11:59 p.m. If you have any questions please contact our School Counselor, Ms. Nguyen. 

SSC: The School Site Council will meet this Wednesday, March 15 at 5:30 PM via Zoom. The link to join the meeting will be emailed to all families.

Southern California College Tour: Westlake will be taking 40 amazing scholars on a Southern California College Tour, March 26-30. On Friday, March 10, the scholars that were chosen to attend this trip received their acceptance letters. This letter needs to be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to the Counseling Office on Monday, March 13 in order to secure their spot on the trip. A MANDATORY Parent Meeting for those scholars chosen to attend the tour will be held on Thursday, March 16 at 6:00 PM in the Westlake Cafeteria. During this meeting we will go over the itinerary, provide transportation and lodging information and have parents sign all field trip forms. Congratulations to all scholars attending!
