Overview

OIHS Mission & Vision The mission of Oakland International High School is to provide a quality student-centered learning experience for recently arrived immigrant students. We value multilingualism, cultural diversity and the many different ways of understanding our world that students, families and their communities contribute to our school. It is our vision that all students, families, staff and partners collaborate towards a more just society, with the recognition and understanding that students are leaders shaping our future world. As educators, we develop and sustain authentic learning opportunities for students, aligned to their future aspirations in college, career, and their communities As a school community, our practices are grounded in restorative practices, wellness supports, and in a spirit of mutual accountability and collective transformation As a Media Arts Academy, media literacy is integrated across the school, and student voice is amplified through participatory, project-based and work-based learning. If you are a newcomer and would like to learn English in an engaging and highly supportive school environment with students from all over the world, you should come to Oakland International High School.
