As newcomer students arriving in OUSD steadily increase, teachers are developing innovative and personalized methods for connecting with them and easing their transition to a new language and a new way of life in Oakland. One such teacher is Carrie Haslanger.

Students to Receive Free AC Transit Bus Passes
Castlemont High School has been selected to participate in Alameda County Transportation Commission’s student transit pass pilot program, beginning Fall 2016. This program will provide all students with free AC Transit bus passes that will be valid year-round! Stay tuned for more information to come over the summer!
