  • *BUS UPDATES FOR THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR*

    Effective Monday, Sept. 26 

    Beginning Monday, Sept. 26, AC Transit will implement changes to Lines 642 and 650 to better serve students traveling to Montera Middle School.

    The current Line 642 morning trip will be discontinued and replaced by Line 632 which will travel the same route but serve a limited number of stops. Fewer stops means the bus will reach Montera Middle School in time for the start of the school day. The new Line 632 will begin its trip at 7:45 a.m. at Snake Road and Colton Boulevard. From there, it will make 11 stops, arriving at Montera Middle School at 8:08 a.m. This change affects the morning trip only. The afternoon trip will remain the 642 and will serve all stops along the current route with the existing schedule. Temporary signs on the bus serving Montera Middle School will read “632 to Montera Middle School, limited stops.”

    There are currently two Line 650 buses serving both Skyline High School and Montera Middle School. Under the new schedule, the first run of Line 650 will depart Seminary Avenue and International Boulevard at 6:55 a.m. – one minute earlier than the current schedule – and will serve all current stops to Skyline High School. This route will enter the Skyline campus and drop students directly in front of the high school which will be the end of this trip. It is important to note that this bus will no longer serve Montera Middle School. Students traveling to Skyline High School are encouraged to use this trip. The temporary sign on the bus serving this route will read “650 to Skyline High School, will enter Skyline campus. No service to Montera Middle School.”

    The second Line 650 trip will leave Seminary Avenue and International Boulevard at 6:57 a.m. – one minute later than the current schedule. The bus will serve all stops along the route to Montera Middle School except the stop at Skyline High School. Students traveling to Skyline High School via this route will be dropped at the intersection of Skyline Boulevard and Balmoral Drive and will have to walk the remainder of the way to school. This trip will provide the only Line 650 service to Montera Middle School in the morning. The temporary sign on this bus will say “650 to Montera Middle School via Skyline High School (stopping at Skyline Blvd. and Balmoral Dr).”

    AC Transit is committed to continuing to work with our school district partners to ensure school bell times are coordinated with our ability to provide service while adhering to federal regulations. We equally understand the importance of getting kids to school and home safely and on time. We are confident the schedule changes outlined above will meet those goals.

What should I do if I lose something on an AC Transit bus?

If you leave personal belongings on the bus, call Customer Relations at (510) 891- 4706 to ask if they have been turned in. Please be prepared to give the route, date and description of item(s). Items may be claimed at the Oakland Customer Service office. Lost items are kept for 30 days. Please note that lost and found does NOT have the ability to check for items lost on the current day. Please call after 9 a.m. the day after it has been lost. There are no guarantees that the item that was left on the bus will have been turned in. Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm (closed holidays) Location: 1600 Franklin Oakland, CA.
 
Clipper Youth Card:
 
·        AC Transit removed the requirement for a photo ID on Youth Clipper cards, making it much easier to get a card. 

·        New options for submitting Youth Clipper card applications are now available. Families can now apply by mail, email, or fax (or still in person at the downtown Oakland AC Transit office).

In an effort to reduce the use of paper, AC Transit will no longer print schedules for the 600 series supplementary school service. You can, however, conveniently access printable versions of schedules and maps in a PDF format at www.actransit.org/maps (type in the bus line and click on the link “Get Print Version.”) If you are not sure which line(s) serve your school, you can find out by clicking here.
