Mr. Joe Dominguez

Mr. Joe Dominguez joined Oakland Unified School District in June 2016 as the Deputy Chief of Facilities & Planning Management.

Mr. Dominguez recently served as the Chief Deputy Superintendent for Inglewood Unified School District (IUSD) and was successful in providing executive management for the district’s Human Resources, Education Services, and Business Services divisions. One of his major accomplishments was developing a fiscal recovery plan that led to the elimination of an $18 million dollar structural deficit and developing a path towards fiscal recovery.

“I’m excited and looking forward to working in a collaborative manner with staff, parents and community in providing and maintaining a safe, clean, efficient and positive learning environment for our students!”

While working in the IUSD Facilities & Bond Development department, Mr. Dominguez provided the necessary leadership by developing a citizen’s bond oversight committee, district facilities master plan, Williams Facilities Audit Plan of Action, and led the RFP/RFQ process for construction management and program management for various bond and facilities projects. He took the initiative, successfully working with state and national elected officials in obtaining multimillion dollar state facilities funding for Emergency Repair Program and federal facilities funding from Los Angeles World Airports for sound mitigation for schools within the district.

Mr. Dominguez’s most rewarding experience while at IUSD was the successful implementation of a $98 million facilities modernization bond. His legacy of leadership continues today, as the “Promises Made, Promises Kept” bond.

Throughout the years, Mr. Dominguez has earned accolades for his work in public education and on behalf of students. One of those major awards was national recognition from the National School Board Association for 18 years of service as school board member and four years of service on the California School Board Association board of directors.

Mr. Dominguez was born and raised in northern California, and enjoys volunteering his time as a little league coach and as a youth mentor in his local church’s youth ministry program.
