Originally operating on the top floor of Melrose Grammar School, Fremont has been a community fixture for over a hundred years. Fremont has been at its current location since 1905 when a dairy farm was purchased in the then rural Oakland flatlands as a community school for the Fruitvale, Lockwood, Allendale, and Elmhurst neighborhoods (FLAME).
Since then, we have adapted and changed with the times, from a once small student body of no more than a hundred students in the early days to well over 1800 students at the time our campus sub-divided into 5 Small Autonomous Interconnected Schools in 2003, the goal has always been the same: To provide the best possible education to best prepare our graduating students for the workplace, college and beyond.
The year 2012 marks yet another milestone in our long history. The Fremont Campus will recombine the three remaining separate independent programs (Architecture, Media and Mandela) into a vibrant and nurturing environment for all as a unified staff and student body. With this change, we welcome our community members, parents, students and teachers to come together to address the long standing inequalities that are present in our communities. GO TIGERS!
