Welcome to Oakland Community Day School

Oakland Community Day School--or "CDS"--sits nestled in the Oakland hills on the site of the Old Chabot Observatory.

The CDS campus includes both a middle school and a high school. CDS serves Oakland Unified School District's expelled students in grades 6 - 8 in the middle school and 9 - 12 in the high school. CDS has the highest staff-to-student ratio in the district with class sizes ranging from five to ten students.

The school employs one principal, four core teachers, one PE teacher, one special education teacher, one administrative assistant, two site security officers, one custodian, three case managers, three mental health assistants, two therapists and a gang-intervention specialist.

In a partnership with Seneca Center, CDS provides its students mental health and counseling services. The school's master schedule includes Cyber High and many A - G required courses so students can pick up where they left off once they transition back into the the comprehensive school system.
