Oakland Unified Summer Learning Programs
OUSD seeks to provide students with summer learning opportunities to continue to build their skills through academic enrichment programs as well as provide extended learning opportunities to students below grade level. Contact your school for information on the opportunities below.
Summer Programming K-8 Full Day Hub Model
Early Childhood Education Centers
Provides programming for eligible children in grades K-3 during the summer. Contact the ECE Office
at (510) 273-1590.
High School Academic Recovery
Credit Recovery is offered to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students in need of academic credit recovery in order to graduate on time. Upperclassmen have priority in enrollment, and applications do not guarantee placement. Contact your child’s high school counselor for more information. Dates: June 29th - July 31st. Friday, July 3rd is a holiday (there is no school).
Migrant/Refugee Education Program
The OUSD Migrant and Refugee Education Programs provide summer academic and enrichment opportunities for students K-12 and make referrals to community based-programs for additional support.

OUSD with the East Bay Consortium and Merritt College offer academies to Oakland youth to strengthen students’ mathematical and literacy skills through summer enrichment courses and support services offered during the academic year to increase college eligibility. Contact East Bay Consortium at 510-451-5923.
Programs for Exceptional Children
This program provides extended school year learning opportunities for severely handicapped students in accordance with their Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Contact the PEC Office at 510-874-3700. Dates: Mon. June 23rd - Fri. July 18th.
SEEK (Summer Engineering Experience for Kids)
The summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK) is the National Society of Black Engineers’ (NSBE’S) free, three-week summer program that provides interactive, hands-on engineering activities for 300 students rising into 4th, 5th and 6th grades.
Summer Pre-K Camp
In partnership with First 5 California, OUSD offers a pre-K camp to entering kindergartners with limited pre-school experience to build skills and access additional learning opportunities to ensure success in kindergarten. Contact Dana Cilono in the in the Expanded Learning Dept at 510-336-7505.
